On 20 september 2006 Richard Hammond was driving a "Dragster" called Vampire. This vehicle was theoretically capable of travelling at speeds up to 370mph or 595km/h. In the 7th lap the front-right tyre blow. After the crash Richard Hammond requested never to mention the crash again in Top Gear and everybody agreed.
Richard had to recover in the hospital but as we all know, he's is doing fine.
